Balangir: Punjilal Meher, the mastermind of the Patnagarh parcel bomb blast in 2018 which killed two persons including a newly-wed youth, has been let out on parole to attend his mother’s last rites.
Punjilal’s mother Indumati Meher breathed her last yesterday at Balangir District Headquarters Hospital while she was undergoing treatment for cancer related ailments.
Meher walked out of the Balangir jail amidst tight security, after the local court granted him a one-day parole. He will be taken to Patnagarh shortly.
Punjilal had planted a bomb and plotted to kill the son and daughter-in-law of his colleague, Sanjukta Sahu over a rivalry related to principal-ship in the local college.
The Police cracked the case which was no less than a movie plot. Punjilal was taken into custody by the Crime Branch on the April 25, 2018.
