Bhubaneswar: It was a matter of great pride for the people of entire Odisha that two Special Operation Group (SOG) Commandos from the State have been awarded with the ‘Shaurya Chakra’ (Posthumously) today.
President Ram Nath Kovind gave away the prestigious award (Posthumously) to Commandos Sudhir Tudu & Debasis Sethy at Defence Investiture Ceremony 2022 in New Delhi. The parents of the martyred commandos received the award from Kovind.
According to reports, this is for the first time that any Odisha Police personnel has been awarded the Shaurya Chakra.
It is to be noted here that both the brave hearts (Tudu and Sethy) were engaged in an operation against the Left Wing Extremists on September 9, 2020 in the dense forest near Sikri village in the Kalahandi district of Odisha. Both of them put their own lives in danger and showed exemplary bravery while they were martyred during the exchange of fire with the Maoists.
