Properties Of Three Mine Owners Attached For Illegal Mining In Odisha

Keonjhar: The Court of the Collector-cum-District Magistrate in Keonjhar today ordered attachment of properties of three mine owners after they failed to pay penalty for illegal extraction of minerals.

Show cause notice had been issued earlier against 23 lessees of 31 mines to apprise the court of the circumstances under which they failed to pay fine of Rs 6350 crore as per the August 2017 directive of the Supreme Court.

A certificate case under the Odisha Public Demands Recovery (OPDR) Act had been registered at the court of the District Magistrate on May 24, 2018, to confiscate the property of the defaulters.

“Hearing of three cases on which warrant have been issued to attach the property of three defaulters completed today,” said Keonjhar Collector Ashish Thakare.
