Prof Dr Ved Kumari Appointed As New Vice Chancellor Of National Law University Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Professor Dr Ved Kumari has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of National Law University, Odisha (NLUO).

There were a total of 41 candidates, out of which only eight were shortlisted for the post. The search Committee comprising of Prof SK Bhatnagar , Dr.Faizan mustafa and Justice AK Patnaik recommended three names to Chief Justice.

Prof Dr Kumari was the Dean of Faculty of Law in Delhi earlier. She was also appointed as the Chairperson of the Delhi Judicial Academy from the year 2009 to 2011.

She has also worked as the Faculty of Law in University of Jammu for two years during 1983-1985.

Dr Kumari has written three books on juvenile justice in India. Her latest book that was published in 2017 is ‘The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015- Critical Analysis’. She is nationally and internationally renowned as an expert on juvenile justice in India and her research papers have been published at the national and international level.

Her first book ‘Treatise on the Juvenile Justice Act 1986’ was published by the Indian Law Institute in 1993. The second edition of her doctoral work was published as ‘The Juvenile Justice System in India: From Welfare to Rights’ by Oxford University Press in 2004 and was printed in 2010.
