Private Hospitals to remain closed on May 25 in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The All Odisha Private Medical Establishment Forum (AOPMEF) on Sunday announced to close their hospitals across the state on May 25 for 24 hours to press for their demand.

Addressing a press meet AOPMEF spokesman Subrat Jena said that all the private hospitals, clinics will be closed from 6 AM on May 25 and continue till 6 AM on the following day. Jena informed that the AOPMEF is demanding for an amendment in the Odisha Clinical Establishment Act, 1990.

The forum alleged that the Odisha Clinical Establishment Act is a hindrance to easy registration and renewal of private health facilities. The forum had earlier written a letter to Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena in this regard.

The AOPMEF spokesman further informed that they will approach the stat government urging it to commence registration of new clinical establishments and renewal of old establishments without delay.
