Prithvi-II test-fired off Odisha coast

Balasore: The Strategic Forces Command (SFC) of the Indian Army conducted a fresh user trial of Prithvi-II missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur-on-sea in the district on Wednesday.

The indigenously developed surface-to-surface ballistic missile was test-fired from launching complex-3 of the ITR at 11.37 AM.

The missile has a strike range of 350 km and can dive at an angle of 80 degree. Powered by liquid propulsion it has the capability to carry up to 500 kg of warhead.

The ballistic missile is the first missile developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under its most ambitious Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme. It has already been inducted in the armed forces.

The SFC had conducted trial of Agni-I successfully from Abdul Kalam Island in the district yesterday.
