Baripada: Bringing to light the porous security arrangement of jails across the State, a prisoner managed to escape from Karanjia sub-jail in Mayurbhanj district today.
The escaped prisoner has been identified as Bhagban Tudu of Kaliapani village under Karanjia police limits. He was serving life imprisonment for past few months.
As per the jail authorities, Tudu had been assigned with the gardening duty as per the routine procedure followed in the jail and escaped while all his fellow inmates were busy in work this morning. He managed to give the guards deployed on duty a slip, they added.
Police has launched a manhunt to nab the prisoner of late.
