Malkangiri: An undertrial prisoner fled from Malkangiri sub-jail on late Tuesday night while maintenance work was underway at the prison’s drainage.
The absconding prisoner has been identified as Ajit Dakua. He had been arrested by Orkel Police on January 19 for trafficking cannabis and was court forwarded. Since then, Dakua had been lodged at the Malkangiri sub-jail.
Prison authorities came to know about his escape when they found one inmate missing during the inspection. The Jail Superintendent has lodged a complaint at Malkangiri police station and a manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding prisoner.
