Prez, PM, Odisha CM laud women’s prowess on International Women’s Day today
Bhubaneswar: While the world observes the International Women’s Day (IWD)-2019 with much dedication and as a mark of respect to the womanhood, Odisha is not lagging behind and a number of programs and workshops are scheduled for today in the state.
Similarly Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik also wished the woman community of the state on this occasion and reiterated his claim of leaving no stones unturned in guaranteeing development of women during his rule.
Taking to the twitter handle the CM cited the examples of reservation for women at panchayat level and Mission Shakti and claimed these schemes are playing a pivotal role in ensuring women’s development.

Notably, on the eve of IWD-2019 President Ram Nath Kovind and PM Narendra Modi also wished women across the country yesterday.

The IWD which is being celebrated with the theme of #BalanceforBetter this year was first celebrated by the United Nations In 1975. In 1977, the United Nations General Assembly invited member states to proclaim March 8 as the UN Day for women’s rights and world peace.
