President Ram Nath Kovind reaches Puri

Puri: President Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Puri on Saturday on a two-day visit. He reached the Talabania helipad in a special helicopter of the Indian Air Force.

Soon after his arrival at the helipad, President Kovind proceeded to the Raj Bhavan at Puri by road. He was accompanied by the First Lady and Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal.

The President is slated to inaugurate the celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of Srimad Bhakti Sidhant Saraswati Goswami Prabhupada, the founder of Goudiya Mission tomorrow. Thereafter he will attend a program of Sri Chaitanya Gaudiya Mutt.

Prior to this, he will visit the Puri Srimandir today; due to this, the temple will remain closed for the general public for two hours from 4 PM to 6 PM.

Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place for the smooth visit of the First Citizen of the country. Around 40 platoons of the police force have been deployed for his security.  Besides, about 200 police officers will be also deployed to ensure smooth conduct of the programmes.

Earlier today, he arrived at Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport at 2.38 pm and was received by Odisha Governor and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra, Police DG Sunil Bansal, and other dignitaries were present at the airport.
