President Ram Nath Kovind arrives in Odisha on 2-day visit

Bhubaneswar: President Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Bhubaneswar on Saturday on a two-day visit to Odisha.

The flight departed from Delhi at 12.25 pm and arrived at Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport at 2.38 pm. He has been received by Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the airport in the presence of Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra and Police DG Sunil Bansal.

Reportedly, the President is scheduled to visit Puri Srimandir today. He will inaugurate the celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of Srimad Bhakti Sidhant Saraswati Goswami Prabhupada, the founder of Goudiya Mission tomorrow following which he will attend a program of Sri Chaitanya Gaudiya Mutt.

The Puri Srimandir will remain closed for the general public for two hours from 4 pm to 6 pm on account of the President’s visit today.

He will stay in Puri Raj Bhawan during his visit for security reasons. Earlier, all the arrangements for his stay were made at a private hotel.

Around 40 platoons of police force will be deployed for the security of President Kovind. About 200 police officers will be also deployed to ensure smooth conduct of the programmes.

Adding to it, Puri King Gajapati Maharaj Dibyasingh Deb has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 earlier on Friday.

In a press release, the office of King Gajapati Divyasingh Deb said that the King was slated to welcome President Ram Nath Kovind during his visit to Puri today. However as his report turned out to be positive for the deadly virus, he has decided to stay in seven-day home isolation and not attend any public meeting.
