President Kovind approves Governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir

New Delhi/Srinagar: A day after Mehbooba Mufti Government collapsed in Jammu and Kashmir, President of India Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday approved the imposition of Governor’s rule in the State with immediate effect for six months.

On Tuesday evening, the Governor had forwarded his report to the President for imposition of Governor’s Rule under Section 92 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir.

The development came after BJP pulled out of its ruling alliance with PDP in the State on yesterday.

The Governor had also consulted all major political parties including the BJP, PDP, National Conference and Congress in this regard.

81-year-old Vohra will now be running the State for a fourth time since his appointment in 2008.
