Bhubaneswar: President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Miss Savitri Ratho as the judge of Orissa High Court.
“In exercise of the power conferred by clause (l) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Miss Savitri Ratho, to be a Judge of the Orissa High Court with effect from the date she assumes charge of her office,” said a notification issued by the Union Law ministry.
Earlier in January, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended for Ratho’s elevation as Judge of the Orissa High Court.
With Ratho’s appointment, the number of women judge in the top court of the State went to three. Justice Amiya Kumari Padhi and Justice Sanju Panda are the two other women judge of the Orissa HC.
Currently, there are 15 judges in Orissa High Court. The number will go to 16 after Ratho take oath.
