Preparatory meet for Rajendra College Platinum Jubilee Celebration held

Bhubaneswar: Established in 1944, the 75-year-old Rajendra Autonomous College, which has been upgraded as Rajendra University is going to celebrate platinum jubilee in December. Hosted by the Rajendra College Alumni Association, Bhubaneswar chapter, a preparatory meet was held in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy graced the occasion as the chief guest. He said, “The institution would be developed into a ‘centre of excellence’, And to attain this status the College authorities need to get connected with the civil society. He also praised the college for producing able citizens who went on contributing immensely to the development of the state.”

The preparatory meet was held at the Conference Hall of the Veterinary College, Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT).

“Educational institutions are made to build up moral value and character in the student and Rajendra College lives up to the expectation. In past the college had produced a number of able personalities who had brought laurels for Odisha by working at top positions with the State and Central Government,” maintained Tripathy.

The preparatory meet which was chaired by senior journalist Gopal Krushna Mohapatra also had the privilege of having a guest like Director BPSPA Arun Sarangi. In his speech Sarangi cited a few names of noted academicians who had graduated from Rajendra College. He avered that the College has so far produced three generations of students. He also said that it is Rajendra College which has created principals like Mohd Fakiruddin and Mrutyunjay Panda.

On the occasion, the new logo and website of Rajendra University were unveiled by the Chief Secretary.

A former principal of Rajendra College Mohd Fakiruddin was also a guest on this occasion. In his speech, he mentioned that for a teacher meeting his students like today is a great moment.

OUAT Vice-Chancellor Pawan Kumar Agarwal, Rajendra College Alumni Association President Lalit Kumar Nayak also attended the meeting and appealed to observe the Platinum Jubilee in an effective manner. Senior journalist Arabinda Dash presented the introductory speech while co-ordinator of the Committee Hari Narayan Pujari, former Students’ Union president Ananta Dash and convenor of Bhubaneswar chapter Udit Dehuri felicitated the guests on the dais.
