Bhubaneswar: A preparatory meeting will be held in view of Mahashivratri at the office of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in Bhubaneswar.

Reportedly, the meeting will be held at 11 am. The preparatory meeting has been convened by the temple work executive officer.

The discussions will be held with the officials and sevayats. The Lingaraj temple will be decorated before Mahashivratri on March 1 due to which the ASI has started repairing the temple. The temple’s chief recruitment editor and executive have been asked to attend the meeting.

All parts of the temple will be repaired at a cost of one crore twenty lakh rupees and are expected to be completed before the government’s Ekamra plan begin. Hence, the contractors have also begun the repairing work following the order.

It is to be noted that the Lord Lingaraj temple trust board on Friday decided to conduct the Maha Shivaratri on March 1 amid restrictions. The ‘Mahadeepa’ will be placed atop the temple crown at 10 pm.

Elaborate security arrangements will be made on the day. However, the decision on the entry of devotees into the shrine will be discussed later.

Maha Shivaratri is a festival celebrated annually in honor of the god Shiva. The name also refers to the night when Lord Shiva performs the heavenly dance. This festival is solemn and marks a remembrance of “overcoming darkness and ignorance” in life and the world.
