Pregnant Woman, Unborn Baby Die In Odisha After Ambulance Runs Out Of Fuel

Baripada: In a shocking incident a tribal woman and her unborn child died late last night after an ambulance shifting the woman allegedly ran out of petrol in Mayurbhanj district.

As per reports the woman identified as Tulasi Munda hailing from Hanida village in the district was admitted to Bangiriposhi CHC after she complained of labour pain. However, doctors at the CHC referred her to the Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada.

Accordingly, the husband of the woman arranged an ambulance to shift her to the Medical College. “The ambulance ran out of fuel while we were on our way to the Medical College. The Aanganwadi worker then called up another ambulance. The ambulance took an hour to reach the Medical College. However, the doctors declared her dead at the hospital,” alleged Chittaranjan Munda, the husband of the deceased.

The husband of the woman later lodged a complaint with the Bangiriposhi police station. Police have started an investigation after registering a case in this connection.
