Bhubaneswar: In a last minute disappointment for Congress in Odisha, former BJD leader and Kandhamal MP Pratyusha Rajeshwari Singh today joined BJP at senior BJP leader KV Singhdeo’s residence here.
Pratyusha’s decision came as a surprise to Congress as OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik who had earlier announced that Sigh will join the grand old party.
Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda and party’s Odisha chief Basant Panda welcomed Singh to the saffron party fold and hoped her presence will be proved a big asset.
Notably, the Kandhamal MP had resigned from Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on March 20 after being denied party ticket to contest in the upcoming poll.
Post resignation, she had declared to join any other party or fight the election as an independent candidate.
