Prateek Singh takes charge as Bhubaneswar DCP

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cadre IPS (2014) officer Prateek Singh on Wednesday took charge as the new DCP of Bhubaneswar.

While answering to the questions of the media persons, Prateek Singh said that he will give focus on crime control, law and order management, people-friendly policy, and implementation of the 5T principles of Odisha government so that the people coming to the police stations will get good experience.

When asked about his action plan for the growing number of street crimes in the Capital City he said, “I will study and analyse the situation will hold discussion with the officers and will plan accordingly. We will follow the good practices that help to control the crimes.”

Regarding the failure of intelligence inputs, the DCP said, “As I have joined today, I need some time to analyse the situation and the system. We will find out the lacunas and take steps for improvement following meeting with the officers.”

When asked what steps the police would take regarding the allegation that the city police fails to control the street crimes as it is engaged in the security and movement of the VIPs, he said, “Whatever you (media persons) are saying now are like inputs for me now. I will take these inputs into consideration and discussions. My plan is, first of all, to know the crime situation, VIP movement situations and what is our (police department) response. So that, I will hold discussions with the concerned officers and bring necessary changes.”

While speaking about the shortage of staff at the police stations, he said that he would look into the matter and study the internal arrangements and changes and take action after having discussion with the officers.

Before assuming the charge as Bhubaneswar DCP, he met the ACPs, IICs, head of Special Wings and the staff at the DCP office near Vani Vihar Square.

It is to be noted here that he was the DCP of Cuttack City before his transfer to Bhubaneswar.
