Pratap Sarangi takes charge as Union Minister of State for MSME

New Delhi: Austere BJP MP from Balasore Lok Sabha constituency in Odisha, Pratap Chandra Sarangi today took charge as the Union Minister of State (MoS) for Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).

Sarangi along with senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nitin Gadkari who also assumed charge of the Cabinet Ministry for MSME the same day, received a grand welcome of the staffs of their respective ministries this morning.

The Balasore MP, who became a social media hero recently and was otherwise dubbed as ‘Odisha’s Modi’ for his frugal living, had been elected twice to the Odisha assembly in 2004 and again on 2009 from the Nilagiri assembly constituency in Balasore.

While Sarangi won the election in BJP ticket in 2004 later succeeded in the poll on 2009 as an independent candidate.

Notably, he is the only newly-elected MP from Odisha with ministerial portfolios in the Union Government of PM Modi’s second term.
