Pradhan pitches for Pension to Odisha Gramya Bank staff

Dharmendra PradhanBhubaneswar: Union Petroleum Minister Dharmedra Pradhan on Wednesday wrote a letter to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley requesting him for early implementation of pension scheme for retired employees of Odisha Gramya Bank.

Pradhan wrote the letter after receiving a petition filed by Suman Kumar Sahoo.

Citing the petition of Sahoo, Pradhan stated that a tribunal constituted in 1991 had directed that Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) Staff may be paid pay, allowances and other benefits at par with commercial banks.

In his letter, Pradhan stated that honourable Jodhpur Bench of Rajasthan High Court and Karnataka High Court have passed orders in favour of RRB staff in the year 2011 and 2012 respectively.

A writ petition has also been filed in the Supreme Court in this regard, Pradhan mentioned.

The Petroleum Minister requested the Finance Minister to consider the case positively that would benefit the retired bank employees of the Odisha Gramya Bank in the state of Odisha.
