Electrocution RemunaRemuna: Underlining the grave dangers inherent in unauthorised power connections, two siblings were electrocuted while connecting a hook on to an electric pole at Mandarpur village under Remuna police limits in Balasore district on Sunday night.

The deceased have been identified as Judhisthir Das and Banamali Das of Nianbag village.

Eyewitnesses say the siblings had climbed atop an electric pole to connect a hook for power supply for a function at the house of Abhimanyu Das of the village. While connecting the hook, the victims came in contact with the 11 KV transmission line passing just above the pole and sustained critical injuries due to the severe electric shock.

Doctors on duty at the Remuna Community Health Centre (CHC) pronounced both of them dead when they were shifted there.

Remuna Police have registered a case of unnatural death and have started an investigation.
