Poor students of class 11 in Odisha to receive free coaching for entrance exams

Bhubaneswar: The economically backward and talented students of class 11 in 30 districts of Odisha will receive free coaching for various national entrance exams, informed School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Das.

Reportedly, the training will be available to students studying in various educational institutions run by the State Council for Higher Education. A notice has been issued in this regard.

According to the notification, the students will be given coaching for the medical (NIT), IIT, JEE (Engineering), and National Defense Academy (NDA) entrance exams.

The students will be able to register for this from December 15. All those students applying for the coaching will be sitting for a test at 11 a.m. on January 15, added reports.

The Department of School and Mass Education has been emphasizing the economically backward students so that none of them should be deprived of education, such as medical and engineering, due to lack of funds.

Students with an income of less than Rs 4 lakh per annum will be eligible to apply for the free coaching. +2 Students of arts, commerce, science, and vocational courses will get the opportunity.

A total of 1,000 students will be given free coaching in 30 districts in the 2021-22 academic year following which a merit list of 3,000 students will be published.

It is to be noted that in case the eligible candidates do not receive the free coaching, students on the waiting list will be given the opportunity.

Meanwhile, Minister Samir Ranjan Das has spoken about the outbreak of coronavirus in the schools and said that the district administration is keeping a check on the SOP of Schools and Mass Education Department.

Whenever a student is found with any symptom, he/she gets restricted to attend their respective schools.

The RT-PCR tests and Rapid Antigen tests of the students and staff are being held. A joint team from the Department of Education and the Department of Health is monitoring the situation.
