Pollution Testing Vehicle Fined Rs 17800 For Issuing PUC Without Test In Odisha

Angul: A mobile van conducting pollution test of vehicles was today penalized for issuing Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates to vehicle owners without testing the pollution level.

The owner of the van which was stationed near the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Angul allegedly issued hundreds of PUC certificates without checking the emission level.

After getting the allegation the RTO has imposed a penalty of Rs 17800 and has also seized the vehicle.

Motorists and bikers have been making a beeline for of the pollution testing centres in various places across the state to obtain PUC certificate.

Under the amended MV Act, a person will be fined Rs 10,000 for failing to produce a PUC certificate. Earlier, the fine amount was only Rs 500.
