Poll flying squads seize Rs 11 lakh in separate incidents in Odisha

Sonepur/Balangir: Launching a crackdown on ‘suspect cash’ ahead of the poll, members of the election flying squad seized currency worth around Rs 11 lakh during separate raids in the state today.

In the first incident, during vehicle inspection drive at Haradkhol on Balangir-Sonepur road a team of flying squad found cash worth Rs 3 lakh from a Maruti Suzuki Dzire vehicle bearing registration number OD 31 B 0021. As the owner of the car failed to provide necessary documents against the cash was seized by the squad members.

Police has detained the owner of the vehicle for interrogation.

In a similar incident, another team of election flying squad engaged on election duty at Bathla Chhak under Patnagarh seized cash worth Rs 8 lakh from a Maruti Suzuki Vitara vehicle bearing registration number OD 03 M 4995.

Driver of the car identified as Chudamani Keta of Bhainsapali village along with an aide Minaketan Meher was detained by police later for questioning on the cash.
