drunk drivingBaripada: In an instance of how a law enforcer turns to a law breaker, police arrested Tiring Police Station Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Chandra Mohan Singh in a ‘hit and run’ case on Thursday.

Police arrested Singh following an order from the Mayurbhanj SP Aniruddh Singh based on a case lodged against the IIC under Section 279, 337, 338 of IPC at the Bangiriposhi Police Station.

As per the complaint, the Tiring IIC dashed his Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (Registration No. OD 11 H 7197) against two vehicles-one each under Tiring Police Station and Bangiriposhi Police Station areas, last night while travelling from Tiring to Baripada for some work.

Mashrukanti Behera, a bike rider from Rangayam village under Kuliana police limits sustained critical injury being hit by Singh’s vehicle on the day of the incident and was rushed to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College & Hospital in Baripada and then shifted to SCB in Cuttack in a critical condition.

Baripada Sadar SDPO Abhimanyu Nayak said the IIC caused the accident under the influence of alcohol. However, he maintained that the truth would be revealed after a probe.
