Sambalpur: A police Sub Inspector (SI) has been suspended in negligence in the investigation in a four-month-old murder incident which took place in Budharaja area.
The suspended cop has been identified as Jugal Kishore Sa, Sub Inspector, Ainthapalli Police Station.
As per the charge against Sa, he had been assigned with the duty of carrying out an investigation into the murder of an elderly woman of Budharaja area four months back and told to submit the report within 120 days. The woman had been killed by a tenant namely Sourabh, who had strangulated her before stabbing to death.
After Sa took 121 days to submit the investigation report, the accused managed to get a bail from the court.
Holding Sa responsible for the grant of bail to the accused, Sambalpur SP Kanwar Vishal Singh suspended him from duty yesterday.
