Bhadrak: Tightening the noose around the necks of illegal hooch traders in the district, police seized a SUV laden with 500 litres of contraband liquor by conducting a raid in Haladi Diha Bypass on Bhadrak-Chandbali State Highway here today.
A patrolling team of Puruna Bazar Police led by Sub Inspector (SI) Mahaprasad Nayak got a tip-off on the presence of the liquor consignment late last night and swung into action. After intercepting the vehicle, a Tata Safari at Haladi Diha village and conducting a search of it the cops found a number of liquor containers and seized those.
However, the driver of the liquor vehicle and an aide managed to flee from the spot during the raid.
Police have launched a manhunt to nab the absconding accused.
