Police seize brown sugar worth more than Rs 25 lakh in Bhubaneswar, 1 held

Bhubaneswar: In another case of brown sugar seize in the State, Police on Monday seized 254 grams of brown sugar worth more than Rs 25 lakh in the capital city. One person has been held in this connection.

As per reports, Police personnel from Airfield Thana in Bhubaneswar nabbed a brown sugar peddler when he was finalising an illegal trade at the High Tech chhak in Sunderpada area of the capital city.

The accused has been identified as Anand Kumar Naik from Uttar Pradesh.

Police have seized Rs 7610 and a mobile phone besides the contraband of brown sugar from the possession of the accused. As per reports, college students and youths were in the target of the illegal trader.

It is to be noted that on last October 22, Police had seized brown sugar worth more than Rs 2 crore and arrested three peddlers including one woman from Balasore. During this raid the Police squad was attacked by the drug mafia and one police personnel sustained injury while the police jeep was damaged.
