The engineer Jaswant Sabar, who had gone missing for two days after being allegedly kidnapped, was rescued by police from Khariar of Nuapada district on late last night. His wife has lodged a formal police complaint on Thursday evening alleging that her husband was kidnapped by the legislator.
Police said that a case has been registered against the legislator under sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 341(punishment for wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 353(assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty), 355 (assault with intent to dishonour person), 500 (punishment for defamation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of Indian Penal Code and section 3(1) of SC/ST Act.
“We have recorded the statements of the junior engineer and his wife who has lodged the police complaint. We will also record the statements of others who were present on the spot,” said DIG (Northern Range) Satyabrata Bhoi to kalingatv.com.
Diploma Engineers’ Association today also demanded stringent action against the legislator. Association members said that the legislator should not have taken law into his own hands.
