Koraput: A team of Malkangiri Police has been thrashed by some villagers at Matikhal village under Machkund police limits in Koraput district.
Reportedly, the police team went to the village in civil dress to conduct a raid after getting a tip-off on ganja smuggling.
However, the villagers attacked the police team after being mistaken as dacoits following which one police personnel was detained by the villagers. They had also kept the police personnel’s bike in their possession.
On getting information, Machkund Police arrived at the village and rescued the detained cop.
