Bhubaneswar: Police today identified the accused involved in the murder of 41-year-old Pritam Routray near Balianta on Friday evening. Police said that Mamum Routray, the elder brother of the victim hacked him to death over a family dispute.
Police identified the accused on the basis of CCTV footage in which the accused was seen hiding the weapon of offence. “We have constituted several squads to nab the accused. Preliminary investigation revealed that both of them had a dispute for months,” said deputy commissioner of police Anup Kumar Sahoo.
Police said that their father had sold a patch of land last year and both of them used to have an argument over sharing of the money. “The dispute took an ugly turn on yesterday when the elder brother assaulted Pritam repeatedly with a sharp-edged weapon. The victim died on the spot,” said a police official.
