Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty discusses law & order situation in twin cities

Bhubaneswar: Commissioner of Police (Bhubaneswar and Cuttack) Satyajeet Mohanty discussed law and order situation in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack at a press conference on Wednesday.

Mr Mohanty said, “There were a total of 15,64, 125 calls to Dial 100. In the cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, there was an increase of rape instances by 26%, accidents by 8% and crime rate in general by 8%.”

All the figures were in comparison to last year’s numbers as released by the Police Commissionerate onlaw and order situation in the twin cities .

He added that a total of 11,530 cases were registered at various police stations in twin cities.

The Commissioner added, “A total of 66 dead bodies were picked, and a total of 270 displaced were sent to shelter homes.”

On lauding the Police Commisenerate he said, “We have helped people in 2147 accident cases, and hence supplemented 108 (ambulance) services.”

A total of 12 drunk cases was handled and 255 female senior citizens were helped.

Praising the rapid action by the Police Commisenarate he said that in 530 cases criminals were caught red-handed after the Department’s prompt action upon citizens’ calls.

This is a yearly event undertaken by Police Commisenerate to determine the law and order situation in the twin cities . The released data can be used for a comparative analysis and hence be further used to curb crime and improve the living environment of the cities.
