Police Chalk Out Security Plan In Puri For Snana Purnima

Puri: Police have made elaborate security arrangements in Puri for smooth conduct of Snana Purnima which will be observed on Monday. The ritual usually marks the beginning of annual Rath Yatra to be observed on July 4.     

As many as 124 sections of police personnel and one section of Special Tactical Unit (STU) will be deployed for the ritual while three commandants, nine ASPs and 16 DSPs will look after the entire security arrangements.

Police said that CCTVs have been installed in and around the Jagannath temple and other important locations along the Grand Road to keep watch on suspicious movement. “The city has been divided into four zones to ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic. Four teams in plain clothes have been formed to prevent terrorist activities inside and outside the temple,” said a police official.

Police said that expecting heavy turnout of devotees inside the temple, ticket holders will be allowed to enter through the south gate to witness pahandi darshan of the deities.
