Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate of Police has started interrogation of the hostel inmates of Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) College with an aim to get a lead in the suicidal case of Plus Three girl student, Ruchika Mohanty, who was found dead inside the girls’ hostel yesterday.
According to reports, the three-member panel, led by an Additional DCP, will interrogate as many as 134 hostel inmates over Ruchika Mohanty’s death case. Besides, the college staff, hostel superintendent and warden also have been brought under the purview of investigation.

The Badagada Police started an investigation after Ruchika’s body was found hanging inside the hostel room on Saturday. A suicide note was also recovered from the spot. In the handwritten suicide note, the first-year student of Plus Three Arts Stream alleged that she ended her life after being fed up with the harassment meted out at her by three of her senior girl students.
Meanwhile, Ruchika’s last rites were performed at her native Kakhadi village in the Athagarh area amid the wave of grief and sorrow.
After the completion of Ruchika’s last rites, her father Ganeswar Mohanty demanded strict action against the three seniors. He claimed that Ruchika was a studious student and was preparing for the IAS exams.
