Balasore: Police on Sunday cracked the July 8 OT Road firing case at a newly-opened hotel and arrested the main accused from neighbouring Chhattisgarh State.
The accused identified as Jajan Panigrahi was nabbed after a series of raids which the Balasore Police had conducted since the occurrence of the incident.
‘A group of unidentified men came on a bike and started firing at the hotel indiscriminately. While the incident took place at around 8 PM nobody was hurt in the firing. However, some of the glass partitions in the hotel were struck with the bullets and got damaged,” said Sudarshan Pradhan, manager of Hotel Zaika International which was targetted, on the next day of the incident.
He also claimed that, an unidentified person called him up at around 11 AM on the day of the incident and demanded an unspecified amount of protection money for the new hotel, which he said he didn’t take seriously. However, he alleged the hand of Panigrahi in the attack.
