Balasore: In a commendable effort, Khaira Police arrested at least 2 burglars within hours of occurrence of loot in Brahman Pokhari area under Khaira police limits in Balasore district last night.
As per the report, at least two bike-borne miscreants chased one Saroj Kumar Nandi and his aunt Bharati Mohanty of Guapala village on Soro-Kupari road late last night while they were returning home. After putting Saroj at gun point the looters tried to snatch away the gold necklace of Bharati which she protested. A scuffle erupted between the burglars and Saroj at a later stage in which the latter slipped off his bike.
The burglars managed to take away the necklace and cash from Bharati subsequently and decamped from the spot.
After Saroj intimated Khaira Police regarding the incident, it swung into action and chased the burglars on the highway, which lasted for around 5 hours. The accused fell in police’s net finally as their bike skidded off the road and plunged into a nullah.
Police arrested the duo from the spot in an injured condition and seized a 6mm pistol, mobile phone and a bike from their possession.
The arrested duo has been admitted to Khaira Medical.
