Malkangiri: A poacher died while another became critical due to asphyxiation inside a cave in the district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Ramachandra Madhi, while another poacher identified as Singa Madhi has been admitted to Makangiri District Headquarters Hospital.
Sources said that as many as five poachers of Jharapani village had been to the cave for hunting porcupine.
“The smoked the cave by igniting fire but two of them were trapped inside. By the time we reached the cave to rescue him he was no more,” said a villager.
