PM Narendra Modi lays foundation stone for Talcher fertilizer plant

Talcher: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the revival work of the Talcher fertilizer plant here a short while ago amid a jam-packed crowd.

PM reached Talcher by boarding a special chopper of Air Force along with Governor Ganeshi Lal which took off from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) earlier in the day.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was also present during the unveiling of the plaque to mark the commencement of the plant by the PM by pressing of the remote button.

Addressing the crowd present to take the glimpse of the inauguration, PM expressed his pride in coming to Talcher and sought blessings of the presiding deity Hingula.

By starting his speech with Odia note PM said, “Jai Jagannath, Jai Maa Hingula, Kala heera ra mati Talcher ku mora koti koti pranam, mu ei biro mati ku asiki gourabanwita mane karuchi.”

The revived fertilizer plant will generate huge employment opportunity for the state, PM insisted during his address later.

The Talcher fertilizer plant, a Rs 13,000 crore project happens to be the first plant in the country to have coal gasification facility. In addition to fertilizer production the plant has been equipped with the technology to generate natural gas useful to cater to the growing energy need of the country.

Earlier in the day, PM arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at around 9 AM He received a rousing welcome from Governor Ganeshi Lal, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, State Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera, Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Jena. Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi and DGP Dr RP Sharma were also present at the airport.
