PM Modi to embark on three-nation Africa tour from today

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave on a three-nation visit to Rwanda, Uganda and South Africa today. He will be in Rwanda on July 23-24, Uganda on July 24-25 and from 25 to 27 in South Africa, informed Secretary (Economic Relations) in the External Affairs Ministry, T S Tirumurti.

Modi’s visit to Rwanda will be historic -the first by an Indian Prime Minister the nation. India will extend two lines of credit of 100 million US Dollars each for agriculture and industrial sectors to Rwanda during the Prime Minister’s visit to that country.

India will also give 200 cows to Rwanda during the visit as part of an initiative to foster brotherhood and prosperity.

On Tuesday, Modi will leave for Uganda where he will call on the President. He will have delegation level talks and will address Indian community.

The Indian Prime Minister will also address the parliament of Uganda. Two lines of credit worth 164 million US Dollars will be extended to Uganda during the visit.

In the last leg of his visit, Prime Minister Modi will reach South Africa on Wednesday to attend the 10th  BRICS summit of emerging economies Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa in Johannesburg.

Inclusive growth, global governance, health and vaccines, peace keeping, and sustainable development will be core agenda during the BRICS summit, sources said.
