PM Modi to address the 10th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg today

Johannesburg: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 10th BRICS Summit here in South Africa today. The theme of this year’s summit is, ‘BRICS in Africa – collaboration for inclusive growth and shared prosperity in the 4th industrial revolution’.

The three-day summit began yesterday with the BRICS Business Forum Meet. Delivering the keynote address, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said, this year marks the decade of co-operation between BRICS nations.

Besides attending the summit, Modi is also expected to meet several leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Modi reached South Africa last evening on the final leg of his 3-nation visit to Africa. He, earlier, visited Rwanda and Uganda

BRICS is a group of five major emerging economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Originally the first four were grouped as “BRIC”, before the induction of South Africa in 2010.
