PM Modi slams Congress on his Baripada visit

Baripada: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took jibe after jibe at the Congess party’s UPA government. He was present in Baripada, Odisha to unveil and inaugurate a slew of projects in Odisha amounting to Rs. 4,500 crores.

After the usual opening of greetings and salutations, PM Modi slammed Congress party’s UPA government from 2004-2014. The jabs ranged from Augusta Westland to Christian Michel.

Samajh nahi aata ki Congress ne sarkar chalayi hai ya apne Michel mama ka darbaar chalaya hai. Mai aaj spasht kar dena chahta hu, desh ke bajaay bichauliyo ke hiton ki raksha mein jisjis ki bhumika rahi hai, unka poora hisaab jaanch agency karengi, desh ki janta karegi” (I am not able to understand whether Congress was running country or Michel Uncle’s empire. I want to clarify that these people just want the middlemen benefitted and not the country. The investigative agencies and the citizens will take care of these people).

PM Modi took this opportunity of lauding Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s reply in Parliament today.

Earlier on Saturday, Sitharaman had alleged Congress of not making the important deal “till something else was done”. “You stopped the deal, forgetting the Air Force was suffering. The deal didn’t get you money,” she asserted. The referred deal is the Rafale deal.

Noting that for BJP national security was a priority she said, “There is a difference between defence deal and deal in defence.”

Also, targeting Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi’s incessant chowkidaar comment, Modi replied, “The thief always wants to outsmart the watchman”.

Rahul Gandhi had previously accused the Prime Minister as a ‘thief’. This was an indirect reply to his comment.

This was PM Modi’s second visit to Odisha in less than two weeks.
