PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone Of Permanent Campus Of IIM Sambalpur In Odisha

Sambalpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone of the permanent campus of the Indian Institutes of Management, IIM Sambalpur via video conferencing.

Odisha governor Ganeshi Lal, and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, along with Union Ministers Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Chandra Sarangi is also present on the occasion.

“This decade will be devoted to the development of new Multinational corporations (MNCs) in India. Today’s startups are tomorrow’s MNCs. These are largely growing in tier 2 and tier 3 cities. These startups need able managers and those passing out of these institutions will lead the way,” PM Modi said.

“It is our responsibility to get a global recognition for ‘brand India’. Those who will be a part of this institution need to encourage development and focus on inclusivity of all,” he added.

Speaking at the event, PM Modi said, Till 2014, there were 13 IIMs in India. Today, there are 20 IIMs. Such a large talent pool can help strengthen the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaign.”

Education in Odisha is witnessing a rapid transition. I am happy that our state continues its dominance in education sector & has emerged as the education hub of Eastern India: CM Naveen Patnaik said.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said at the event, “I am delighted that Hon’ble Prime Ministerji is laying the Foundation Stone for infrastructural development of IIM Sambalpur today.

“Set up in 2015, IIM Sambalpur has already proved its mettle as one of the premier management institutions of the country.In just about five years, it has been able to cast its positive impact upon the hierarchy of educational institutions in Odisha. Odisha has a tradition of educational excellence since ancient times”, Naveen said.

Historically, Odisha has been at the forefront of education and research.Education in Odisha is witnessing a rapid transformation, he added.

I am particularly happy that our State continues its dominance in education sector and has emerged as the Education Hub of the eastern India.With the establishment of IIM, IIT, NISER, IISER, AIIMS, NLU and many other Institutions of National Importance, he added.

Odisha is emerging as a leading research hub of the nation. We are thankful to the Government of India for the same.Government of Odisha accords highest priority to development of Human Resource. The “Skilled in Odisha” has already become an international brand,our focus is to train our youth in the latest technology and technical know-how, and to make them market ready as per the demands of Industry 4.0, he added.

I am happy to know that IIM Sambalpur has been aspiring to be the leading Entrepreneurial Hub in the Odisha and has entered into an MoU with the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises with emphasis on nurturing the entrepreneurial talent of the local weavers and agro-based businesses and to incubate Start-Ups in these areas.
