PM Modi Congratulates Imran Khan For Victory In Pak General Polls

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended congratulatory greetings to Imran Khan, the head of Pakistan’s ‘Tehreek-e-Insaaf’ party for his decisive victory in the general elections which concluded on June 25.

As per the statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), PM Modi spoke to the cricketer-turned-politician and applauded his landslide win. The Prime Minister also praised the vision of ‘Threek-e-Insaaf’ which aims to bring development and progress in Pakistan besides peace in the subcontinent.

This move of the PM comes in a day after India expressed happiness over successful elections in Pakistan and wished the neighbouring country a peaceful, prosperous and progressive future.

Imran Khan too returned the warmth extended by PM Modi and thanked him for his complimentary wishes. The two spoke on a joint strategy to counter poverty, terrorism and other disputes through peaceful means.

Notably, in the recently conducted general elections in Pakistan, Imran Khan’s ‘Tehreek-e-Insaaf’ emerged as the single largest party, defeating key players including the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). As per reports, Imran Khan will take oath as Pakistan’s Prime Minister on August 11.
