PM Modi, CM Naveen wish people of Odisha on ‘Utkala Dibasa’

Bhubaneswar: With Odisha celebrating its 83rd foundation day today as ‘Utkala Dibasa’ with much pomp and gaiety, PM Narendra Modi and CM Naveen Patnaik have wished the people of the state prosperity.

By taking to his Twitter handle this morning, PM posted a message in Odia in which he dubbed all Odias as brave and talented. He also acknowledged the commendable contribution of Odisha people for the nation building.

Similar, CM Naveen Patnaik also took to his micro blogging account to wish the people of his State on this occasion. By expressing his hearty greetings to all Odias including those staying overseas for ‘Utkala Dibasa’ he called for an united effort for the development of the State.

Notably, the then Orissa and today’s Odisha had been assigned with the status of a separate state on April 1, 1936. Modern day Orissa was formed as a province for the people speaking Oriya.

Orissa was renamed as Odisha by the Parliament of India on November 9, 2010. Oriya language also got a new name as Odia.
