New Delhi: Ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the Congress has revealed that the party is meticulously building up a strong opposition base to defeat the ruling BJP. However, as per inside reports, the opposition Prime Minister will be chosen after the declaration of the poll results.

It has also been revealed that all the opposition parties, especially SP and BSP, are in strategic alliance with the Congress to take on the saffron party next year. The Opposition parties are aiming to come together in order to snatch majority of the seats from the ruling BJP.  However, the united opposition lacks a leader face and the Congress has clarified that the PM candidate will be chosen only after the outcome of the polls.

The party has justified its stance by stating that discussions on leadership and PM face at this juncture might prove detrimental in uniting the opposition parties, which might be used by the saffron party to its own advantage.

As per insiders, the Congress party is working on a dual strategy to counter the saffron party. In the first phase of the strategy, it will bring together all the opposition parties to form a united front and then decide the Opposition’s PM candidate basing on the election results.

Moreover, the Congress party is putting special emphasis over forming alliances in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra in order to win a substantial chunk of seats to oust BJP in these states. The INC is also confident of winning substantial seats in states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Punjab and Haryana besides others in the 2019 General elections, that will pave way for its victory. The party is hopeful that some of the present allies of the NDA may also join the opposition front in the future, which would further prove advantageous in defeating the BJP. The Congress is also contemplating to form alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab and Delhi.

The 133-year-old party firmly believes that the 2019 polls will be a fight between political ideologies. Party veterans are hopeful that Congress will emerge victorious in the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. During the election campaigns, the INC will highlight the failure of the Modi Government in providing social security and employment, fighting corruption and improving the condition of farmers in the country.
