Bhubaneswar: Picnicking turned into a nightmare for a group of school students of Banapur in Khordha district last night, after a bus carrying them dashed against a stationary truck at CRPF flyover here and left 15 of them injured.
The mishap took place sometime between 2-2.30 AM in the night when the bus (Registration No. OD 02 AC 3132) carrying at least 40 students and staffs on board was on its way to Kapilash in Dhenkanal district. On CRPF fly-over a lorry truck moving ahead of the bus suddenly applied brakes after being signaled by MVI personnel for checking. It caused the driver of the bus to lose control over the wheels and smacking into the truck from rear.
15 persons, a majority of whom are students sustained injury in the crash and were rushed to Capital Hospital in the city by Commissionerate Police later in the night. The health condition of the injured are said to be stable.
