Berhampur: In an exemplary move, the Ganjam district administration on Friday sealed two petrol pumps for not obeying the “No helmet, No petrol” rule.

Berhampur Sub-Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain along with a team of police personnel reportedly conducted raids at different oil outlets in the city and closed two of them for violating instruction of not to sell petrol to the helmetless bikers.

PVN Petrol Pump and K Srinivas Petrol Pump were the two oil filling stations which the Sub-Collector-led team sealed today.

Siddharth Shankar Swain also asked the petrol pump owners to inform him if they are threatened for not giving petrol to the helmetless bikers.

The team also visited different colleges in the town and checked whether the students who had taken bikes to their institutes had got helmets and possessed Driving Licenses (DLs).

The District administration had three years ago strictly ordered the petrol pump owners to follow the “No helmet, No petrol” rule. Besides, it had conducted awareness programmes on different occasions.
