Petrol and diesel prices continue to surge for fifth straight day; Consumers in distress

Bhubaneswar: Petrol and diesel prices have continued to increase for the fifth consecutive day in Odisha’s capital city Bhubaneswar on Sunday. Today, the petrol price in Bhubaneswar has been recorded at Rs 108.19 per litre while the diesel price has been recorded at Rs 104.68 per litre. While on Saturday, the Petrol and diesel costs were recorded at at Rs 107.84 and Rs 104.30 per litre respectively.

The petrol rates has increased by 35 Paise and diesel cost has risen by 38 Paise in the last 24 hours. The continues rise in fuel prices have distressed consumers as it has become difficult to bear the fuel expenses in their daily budget.

All major cities of Odisha has registered petrol price above 100 and the rate of petrol in Malkangiri district has been recorded to be the highest in the state at Rs 113.42 per litre. The other major cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Lucknow, Jaipur and other cities has also recorded the petrol price above Rs 100 including Rs 104.32 in Chennai, Rs 107.78 in Kolkata and Rs 113.12 in Mumbai.

The diesel price in various cities are Rs 100.25 in Chennai, Rs 99.08 in Kolkata and in Mumbai the rates have crossed above Rs 100 mark at Rs 104.00.

On the other hand, the price of petrol in the national capital is recorded at Rs 107.24 per litre(up by Rs 0.35) while the price of diesel is at Rs 95.97 per litre (up by Rs 0.35).
