Petition Filed At Orissa High Court Demanding Reopening Of Schools

Cuttack: A petition has been filed in the Orissa High Court in Cuttack demanding the reopening of schools following Covid protocols.

Reportedly, the petition has been filed one Ranjita Mohapatra which stated that the bars, restaurants, shopping malls, and other institutions are open to the public. The three-tier Panchayat Elections have also been allowed to take place as per the schedule amid the rising cases of Covid infection.

However, she has stated against the closure of schools by the State government. She has said that while all other institutions could be allowed to function, why cannot the schools be permitted to reopen.

She has further stated that the education of students is being highly hampered as the schools have been shut for the past two years. She demanded that all schools should be reopened as soon as possible under the Covid protocols.

Advocate Ashis Kumar Mishra will be handling the case on behalf of the petitioners, added reports.

Notably, the YouTube classes for students of standard 1 to 8 began on January 27, 2022. The State government decided to conduct YouTube classes for students following the direction of the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA).

OSEPA has directed all District Education Officers (DEOs) to adopt necessary measures in this regard. The YouTube classes would be conducted five days a week from Monday to Friday.
