Khordha: Residents in Begunia area nabbed a chain snatcher on Baghamari-Simor road in Khordha district and thrashed him mercilessly following a failed loot bid from an middle-aged couple this morning.
As per the report, one Binodini Mohapatra, identified as the Principal of Kalapathar College was en-route to work with her husband riding pillion on a bike when the accused identified as Taslim Saha of Khajuria village under Nirakarpur police limits followed them on his bike. He tried to snatch away Binodini’s gold necklace which she successfully foiled and slipped of the road in the scuffle.
Later, some commuters nabbed the accused and thrashed black and blue on the spot.
He was handed over to Baghamari Police after the latter rushed to the spot getting information and intervened. The bike of the accused used in the snatching attempt was also seized from the spot.
The victim woman has lodged a case with police in connection with the incident and an investigation is underway.
